Wellow Maypole Celebrations take place annually on the village green in the centre of the village. This unique event has its roots in the 19th century but has evolved over time to become one of Nottinghamshire's largest one day village festivals.
Maypole Day 2012 fell during the Queen's Jubilee Celebrations, so there was a touch of nostalgia, including classic and vintage vehicles, miniature steam engines, and the return of traditional children's swingboats! However, with many different stalls, children's rides, live music and entertainment every year, not forgetting the crowning of the May Queen and maypole dancing, the Maypole Celebrations always remain a true family event.
